In Ontario, Canada (and many other provinces and in various states in the U.S.), a naturopathic doctor is a regulated healthcare provider who focuses on natural and preventative medicine. NDs are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat health concerns using a variety of modalities, including clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, lifestyle counseling, and more.
Do I need to be an Ontario resident to book an appointment ?
At this time, Dr. Smith's naturopathic services are only available to residents of Ontario, Canada due to licensing regulations.
Are appointments conducted in person or virtually?
All appointments are conducted virtually via a secure video platform (Jane App). This allows you to access naturopathic care from the comfort of your home.
What can I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit typically lasts 60 minutes and includes a detailed discussion of your health history, lifestyle, diet, and any current concerns. We’ll order labs and tests if necessary and work together to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Are virtual visits as effective as in-person care?
Yes! Virtual naturopathic visits are effective for most health concerns. If physical assessments or lab work are needed, Dr. Smith will guide you through local resources or work with your primary care provider.
Do I need a referral to see a naturopathic doctor?
Nope! You can book an appointment directly.
Are naturopathic services covered by OHIP?
Naturopathic services are not covered by OHIP, but many private health insurance plans do offer coverage. Please check with your provider to confirm your benefits.

YES. As a regulated ND in Ontario, Dr. Smith can recommend and interpret functional and standard lab tests, provide personalized supplement plans AND prescribe Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT : progesterone and estrogen)

What technology do I need for a virtual visit?
You’ll need a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone (computer, tablet, or smartphone). The video calls are hosted on a secure, privacy-compliant platform called Jane App. REMINDER : join your appointment from a quiet, private place for optimal comfort and confidentiality.
What is the cancellation policy?
Dr. Smith require 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed appointments or late cancellations will be charged in full.
